Issues, Challenges and Opportunities
The 2012 conference focuses on the impact of the recent economic downturn on African business and development. You are invited to submit any original theoretical, conceptual, empirical, and managerial contributions that address the conference theme as well as other related areas of business and Development. The annual conferences of the International Academy of African Business and Development are open to scholars, professionals, and graduate students of any nationality who are interested or actively engaged in the research and performance or administration of business and economic development issues as they relate to Africa. These conferences aim at facilitating multidisciplinary research on Africa’s related issues, stimulating collaborations between Africa based researchers and their counterparts around the world, broadening and deepening global understanding of the various challenges facing African development and business, and advancing alternative solutions to Africa’s business and development challenges.

MUBS, UGANDA - IAABD 2009 HOST: ABUNDANTLY SUCCESSFUL
The IAABD 10th Anniversary International Conference held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda, May 19-23, 2009 - hosted by Makerere University Business School (MUBS) was abundantly successful. The 10th Anniversary celebration was graced with cultural dance, launching of IAABD magazine, huge birthday cake, and 30 minutes nonstop fireworks.
IAABD is indebted to the Chief hosts, Professor Waswa Balunywa, MUBS Principal and Dr. Colin Sentongo, Chairman, MUBS Council; Conference Coordinator, Ms. Serina N. University of Florida - IAABD 2008 Host
The 9th IAABD International Conference chaired by Dr. Anita Spring and hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville, USA, May 20-24, 2008 was a great success. Welcoming remarks were rendered at various receptions and plenary sessions by Dr. John Kraft, Dean, UF Warrington College of Business Administration; Dr. Carol West, Director CIBER; Dr. Abe Goldman, Director, Center for African Studies; Dr. Joe Glover, Provost; Dr. W. Pursuant to the Vision and Mission of the IAABD, and in direct response to members’ views and suggestions during general meetings on 23rd and 24th May 2006 in Accra, Ghana, the following committees have been formed: Enhancement of African Membership Committee, Intellectual Contributions Committee, Expertise Directory and Database Committee, and the Mission Accomplishment Monitoring Committee (MAMC). The overall aim is to enhance the growth and prominence of the IAABD.
Please join me in congratulating the many IAABD members, on this website and elsewhere, who continue to succeed and excel in various areas of human endeavors especially, in this case, in the areas of scholarship, teaching, and service. This is really part of the bigger picture as to why we are Confident in Africa’s Future.
